Explore the possibilities โSHON is designed for people who need something, people who can offer something, and organizations that can bring opportunities together.
Explore future housing-linked opportunities, shared living, and arrangements offering a safe place to stay.
Connect unused space, a spare room, or a property-presence opportunity with someone who needs it.
Share skills, time, companionship, mentorship, and other forms of mutual support.
Find a housemate, companion, collaborator, apprentice, or another mutually beneficial connection.
Nationwide discovery, direct contact, and thoughtful matching are central to SHON's planned platform.
Knowledge and connection can open doors. SHON aims to bring people and institutions together across the country.
Discover learning resources from universities, libraries, and other educational providers.
Share practical knowledge, teach apprentices, and find people eager to learn.
Build connections among individuals, nonprofits, charities, faith communities, and other participating organizations.
Explore future accommodation-linked volunteer, service, educational, and employment opportunities.
Some housing opportunities begin with an empty building, underused land, or a shared idea. SHON envisions connecting prospective residents, landowners, developers, conservation groups, educators, and supporters to explore new residential communities.
Explore housing-linked projects that combine sustainable water management, ecological restoration, agriculture, and new residential communities.
Connect potential residents with proposals for woodland restoration, habitat stewardship, and conservation-focused living.
Imagine walkable neighborhoods with compact homes, shared facilities, internet access, and attainable housing arrangements.
Consider vacant buildings, underused properties, and declining towns as starting points for new residential opportunities.
Future SHON tools could help project organizers gauge interest, identify needed skills, discuss accommodation and relocation, and distinguish early proposals from approved developments and move-in-ready homes.
SHON, the Supported Housing Opportunity Network, is a proposed free, nationwide, noncommercial initiative. Its purpose is to make underused opportunities visible and help people and institutions find mutually beneficial arrangements. No advertising, platform fees, property sales, or conventional rental marketplace.
